The German automaker has introduced the new BMW 330e Sedan with advanced BMW eDrive technology for unparalleled driving dynamics and ideal efficiency. The sporty sedan is also equipped with XtraBoost, which enhances the plug-in hybrid system’s output (i.e. 185 kW/ 252 hp) by 30 kW/ 41 hp. This also expands the electrical range of the sports sedan by 50 percent compared to its predecessor. This results in the BMW 330e Sedan being able to travel 60 kilometers with zero emission. The sedan will also be emitting 10 percent lower emissions.

Talking about the powertrain, the sports sedan houses a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine created with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology making 135 kW/ 184 horsepower. The engine is combined with an electric motor capable of cranking out a continuous output of 50 kW/ 68 hp with a peak production of 80 kW/ 109 hp. In total, the plug-in hybrid system creates 185 kW/252 hp and 420 Nm of torque. All this power is channeled to the wheels through the 8-speed Steptronic transmission, allowing the BMW 330e Sedan to hit 100 km/h from standstill in 6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 230 km/h.

In Hybrid mode, the sedan can go to 110 km/h on electric power alone. In electric mode, it can deliver emission-free driving even at speeds of up to 140 km/h. The standard XtraBoost system activates by selecting Sport driving mode rendering an extra 30 kW/ 41 hp saved in the high-voltage battery.
The plug-in hybrid will be accessible in 4 variants namely Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport. We will share more details after the market launch in Summer this year. The 330i xDrive sedan starts at AED 275,000, so expect the plug-in hybrid to cost a lot higher than that.
