In a pursuit to go green, China has blacklisted 553 locally manufactured vehicles in the country. In an interview with Bloomberg, Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association expressed the rising concern over carbon emissions and their effort to curb them by using New-Energy Vehicles (NEVs).

The list will be quite long and would also include vehicles from Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Chevrolet. This news comes as a no surprise as China has already cleared its intentions on not allowing fossil fuel cars. Though other countries like the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and France have all also put a similar type of ban, China will be the biggest country in the world to enforce it.

The NEVs would be the order of the day very soon as China contemplates of making 10% of its new car sales through electrified cars in 2019, which would include hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and all-electric cars. However, the highest focus would be on all-electric cars and to make it happen they are allowing automakers to earn credits on their manufacturing.
