Al Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributors of Toyota in the UAE, launched the 4th generation of the globally popular 2016 Toyota Prius. The vehicle will be available for sale in the UAE and other Middle Eastern Markets by early 2016.

The Prius has the distinction of being the world’s first mass produced full-hybrid vehicle, and accounts for half of the 8 million Toyota hybrid vehicles in use around the world. Currently, being sold in 90 markets, the Prius will score a century after the Middle East launch in 2016.

The Prius 2016 houses a 4 cylinder 1.8L Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) engine that has been enhanced for greater fuel economy achieving a maximum thermal efficiency of 40%. Other features that contribute to fuel efficiency are the smaller and lighter motors, transaxle, power control unit and hybrid batteries. Another first for the 4th generation Prius is the E-Four (electronic four wheel drive) system that switches power between front and rear wheels for efficient driving.

Considering rumours of the UAE government banning SUVs in an effort to reduce carbon emissions, hybrid car sales are likely to grow at a phenomenal rate and the 2016 Toyota Prius, as the current king of hybrid cars, might be the most sighted car on the roads.
