Armored vehicles vary widely in design and size. While luxury SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade and high-end sedans such as the S-Class are often chosen for their protective qualities, you might be surprised to learn that the Lucid Air Sapphire can also be bulletproof.
The US Armor Group has custom-built this Lucid Air Sapphire, dubbing it “the world’s fastest armored car.” With a staggering 1,234 horsepower and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 1.89 seconds, it far outpaces any armored Escalade.
Beyond its remarkable speed, the Lucid Air Sapphire offers top-notch safety features. Instead of traditional glass, it boasts lightweight laminated transparent armor capable of withstanding a .44 magnum round. Its doors and body panels are reinforced with a lightweight composite material, said to be ten times stronger and five times lighter than ballistic steel.
These enhancements reportedly add only 385 pounds to the Sapphire’s overall weight, totaling 5,721 pounds. Despite this, the US Armor Group claims the armored Air Sapphire can still reach 200 mph and come close to its original 0-60 time.
For those seeking extra protection, options include electro-shock door handles, pepper spray dispensers, gun ports, poison gas protection, and even more robust armor to counter high-powered rifles and explosives.
The US Armor Group also equips the interior with a “secure” WiFi system to guard against hackers and a scanner system with connections to local emergency services. Additionally, there’s a direct line to US Armor Group for extra support.
Of course, this level of security comes at a premium. While the base Lucid Air Sapphire starts at $250,500, the US Armor Group’s armored version costs $475,000. Given the combination of safety and performance, it’s a comparatively modest price.
