Ford has made significant updates to the ever-popular Maverick pickup for 2025. The key change is the introduction of an all-wheel drive option for the 2.5-liter hybrid engine, which enhances towing and payload capabilities to rival those of the more robust EcoBoost model. Additionally, there’s now wireless Apple CarPlay and a refreshed front design.

The AWD hybrid option was a highly requested feature from customers, and Ford has responded accordingly. The power output remains the same with the Atkinson-cycle inline-four engine, which works with a single electric motor to produce 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. As before, it is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Equip the rear with powered wheels and opt for the 4K towing package, and you’ll boost your pulling power by 2,000 pounds, totaling 4,000 pounds. This aligns with the capabilities of the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder. However, the AWD hybrid Maverick sees a slight drop in payload, offering 1,400 pounds instead of the previous 1,500.

For 2025, the Maverick comes in four trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, and the Tremor. The hybrid engine is standard on the first three, while the Tremor exclusively features the 238-hp EcoBoost. If you favor the 277 lb-ft torque, the other trims can be fitted with the 2.0-liter option. This setup is matched with an eight-speed automatic and maintains its standard AWD configuration.

Visually, the 2025 Maverick gets an updated grille and new fang-shaped headlights. Inside, it features a new 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle also comes with a 360-degree camera and a 5G modem for over-the-air updates.

Ford has not yet announced the complete pricing or fuel economy details for the 2025 Maverick but indicates that the front-drive hybrid version will start at $27,890, including destination charges. The company also aims for an EPA rating of 42 mpg city for the front-drive hybrid and 40 mpg for the AWD hybrid. Deliveries are expected to start in late 2024.

Unfortunately, the Maverick is still not available in the Gulf. So, you have to import it if you want to benefit from its excellent EPA rating.
