Toyota brought back the legendary Supra with a six-cylinder engine in 2019. By 2021, they introduced a solid four-cylinder version. However, with updates to the Supra lineup for 2025, the four-cylinder is absent.
The company announced on Friday that the entry-level Supra will be dropped after three years. A spokesperson confirmed to Motor1, “Yes, the four-cylinder will no longer be in our lineup.” This news isn’t entirely surprising.
In 2023, the Supra didn’t perform well in sales for the brand, with only 2,652 units sold, whereas other sports cars saw an uptick. Although Toyota doesn’t provide a breakdown of Supra sales by trim or engine, it’s likely that the four-cylinder model lagged behind.
The 2024 Supra 2.0 featured a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produced 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This model was exclusively available with an eight-speed automatic transmission and could accelerate to 60 miles per hour in approximately 5.0 seconds. While it wasn’t the fastest, it was far from sluggish.
In the current lineup, the Supra now exclusively features the six-cylinder variant. For 2025, you can choose between the 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trims. Its turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine still delivers 382 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. Transmission options include an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. Acceleration to 60 mph takes approximately 3.9 seconds with the automatic transmission and 4.2 seconds with the manual.
Potential Supra buyers should note a modest price adjustment for the 2025 six-cylinder model. The starting price for the 2025 Supra is $57,335, inclusive of a $1,095 destination fee, reflecting an $840 increase from the 2024 model when factoring in destination fees. The Supra 3.0 Premium is priced at $60,495.
