The Tesla Cybertruck made its debut roughly five months back, lacking certain anticipated functionalities typical of contemporary pickups. However, a forthcoming software update is set to address this, granting access to locking differentials and other off-road capabilities, ensuring owners are well-equipped for any rugged terrain without fear of inadequacy.
These enhancements will be facilitated through the introduction of Off-Road Mode, enhancing the vehicle’s maneuverability across various terrains such as rocks, gravel, deep snow, and sand. Locking differentials will be accessible for the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variant, with the triple-motor model featuring a front-locking differential. Additionally, the Overland mode will have a virtual rear-locked differential perpetually engaged.
The Trail Assist feature enhances handling on rugged terrain, allowing drivers to concentrate on steering. A fresh Baja Mode boosts the vehicle’s stability and control when Stability Assist is dialed down.
While some enhancements improve off-road performance, not all updates necessarily enhance it. Tesla has also refined the truck’s payload estimation and adaptive suspension adjustments.
The Cybertruck now exhibits improved traction on slick surfaces, and a novel CyberTent Mode ensures a level sleeping surface while keeping lights on and outlets powered.
Tesla announced that over-the-air updates will be available shortly.
