Following several months of discreet prototype sightings, the refreshed Audi Q7 has made its debut. Audi of Europe has unveiled the latest iteration of the company’s family-friendly vehicle, with intentions to commence deliveries in the upcoming quarter overseas.
The updated Q7 represents a significant facelift rather than a completely new model. This is notable considering the current Q7’s age, having first appeared back in 2015 for the 2016 model year. Fast forward to 2024, and we encounter a revamped front end featuring a fresh iteration of Audi’s Singleframe grille. It retains its substantial size, adorned with a thick border and an octagon-themed design inside. The lower bumper now boasts redesigned corner vents sporting a vertical layout, while the LED headlights maintain a similar appearance, albeit with optional HD Matrix lights featuring laser technology and customizable functions.
Audi introduces innovative lighting technology for the Q7, enhancing visibility through the integration of laser diodes alongside 24 LEDs in each light. These lights operate in conjunction with high beams when driving above 43 mph, substantially extending the range. Additionally, the new Q7 offers optional customization for its daytime running lights, allowing drivers to select from four different lighting signatures, which also extends to the updated LED taillights. The availability of these upgrades in North America, however, is uncertain due to ongoing regulatory challenges posed by US regulations on advanced lighting technologies.
The standard model gets traditional contrast stitching, 19-inch wheels, the standard gloss package with aluminum roof rails, and a rearview camera with parking assistance. Venture into the realm of choices, and you’ll discover nine decorative inserts to personalize the cabin, which remains unaltered. Three fresh exterior hues join the lineup – Azure Blue, Amber Gold, and Crimson Red – accompanied by additional wheel alternatives spanning 20 to 22 inches.
On the technological front, applications from external providers are now accessible for the first time, enabling you to integrate services like Spotify directly into the Q7’s multimedia system. New driver-assistance functionalities include various cautionary displays in the virtual cockpit, covering aspects like lane changes and proximity alerts, among others.
The powertrain configurations are similar, including a 3.0-liter diesel available in two power levels – 228 or 282 horsepower, a V6 gasoline engine producing 335 hp, and a 4.0-liter V8 with twin-turbochargers delivering 500 hp for the performance-focused SQ7 trim. The SQ7 also boasts additional black trim, oval exhaust tips, and a front chin spoiler, and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
An Audi spokesperson in the US declined to disclose details regarding mechanical alterations, pricing, or the delivery schedule for units destined for the US market, as reported by Motor1. Therefore, we’ll need to wait longer to discover what’s in the pipeline for buyers in our region. European consumers can purchase the new Q7 as a 2024 model starting at 79,300 euros. The model year is expected to shift to 2025 once the car becomes available in the United States. Source and Images: Motor1
