Lexus unveils the UX hybrid for the upcoming model year, featuring an enhanced powertrain named 300h. Various subtle updates are incorporated into the hybrid crossover, such as a fresh exterior hue and more.
The new UX 300h showcases Lexus’ latest hybrid system, a notable debut in the brand’s lineup. This innovative system combines a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with two motor-generators through a continuously variable transmission of the planetary type. The result is an increased horsepower of 196, surpassing the previous year’s 181 hp.
A hybrid transaxle, along with a lightweight lithium-ion battery, adds to the increased power output while maintaining optimal energy efficiency, as stated by Lexus. They have placed a small 60-cell battery beneath the rear seat for better passenger comfort and storage capacity enhancements.
In the UX 300h, there’s an introduction of shift-by-wire technology to the UX series, which means there is no physical link between the gear shifter and transmission, only electrical signals. The car manufacturer assures a faster and smoother shifting experience. With the more potent hybrid powertrain and the innovative shift-by-wire technology, the crossover accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds in AWD configuration.
The UX 300h offers an optional E-Four all-wheel drive, featuring a rear axle synchronous motor for quick force application in challenging conditions or during acceleration.
Adding to the 2025 MY, Copper Crest debuts as a fresh exterior color choice for the model. The crossover’s color range now encompasses Caviar, Obsidian, Redline, Nori Green Pearl, Grecian Water, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, and Eminent White Pearl. All hybrid UX models come standard with 18-inch run-flat tires.
In the United States, the UX will provide hybrid and fully-electric options. Pricing details for the UX 300h will be revealed next year, followed by sales commencement shortly after.
