Wow, that didn’t last very long at all! It feels like just a month ago when the Rimac Nevera made headlines for achieving a remarkable feat. It became the fastest production car to reach a speed of 249 mph (400 km/h), and then smoothly decelerate to a stop. But guess what? That record has already been surpassed, making it outdated in no time. Surprisingly, an older hypercar has stolen the crown from the electric beast. Koenigsegg couldn’t be happier to announce that their Regera has outperformed the Nevera by more than a second. The Regera accomplished this impressive task in just 28.81 seconds, while the Nevera took 29.94 seconds.
The Swedish automaker has a history of achieving remarkable feats. In 2019, they utilized the Regera to accomplish the impressive 0-249-0 mph run in just 31.49 seconds. This achievement surpassed their previous record of 33.29 seconds, which was set by the Agera RS in 2017. Koenigsegg poses a thought-provoking question: “Why pursue these new records with a car that is no longer in production?” The answer is simple: because it can! The car continues to reign supreme in today’s fiercely competitive automotive industry, and this accomplishment deserves to be commemorated with a fresh record-breaking achievement.
And that’s not all! The Regera has achieved another incredible feat. It has officially claimed the title of the swiftest street-legal car to accelerate to 250 mph (402 km/h) and then decelerate to a complete stop, accomplishing this remarkable feat in a mere 29.6 seconds. The mind-blowing performance of this extraordinary supercar, which first hit the market in 2015, was meticulously assessed by Racelogic.
Regarding the location of the two records, the Regera underwent its performance at Örebro Airport, which is positioned to the west of the capital city of Stockholm. This selection was made due to the presence of an extensive runway measuring 3,274 meters (10,741 feet), allowing the twin-turbo V8 engine to fully demonstrate its capabilities. Koenigsegg specifically notes that the surface was notably more even compared to previous high-speed attempts, and the vehicle was fitted with fresh Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

It’s doubtful that we’ve heard the final update from Koenigsegg regarding a new achievement, as they have been subtly suggesting that the Jesko Absolut might possess even greater speed. Concerning the Regera, all 80 vehicles were manufactured and handed over by 2022.
