Didn’t manage to get your hands on the previous edition of Volkswagen’s celebrated Golf R? No need to worry because the folks from Wolfsburg have come up with another impressive hatchback boasting 333 horsepower. Introducing the Golf R 333, the newest version of this sought-after compact performance model, features the identical 2.0 TSI engine. From a technical standpoint, the four-cylinder generates 333 PS, which translates to approximately 328 horsepower (245 kW). Torque remains the same as the standard Golf R, measuring 420 Newton metres (309 pound-feet).
The new Golf R 333 showcases a vibrant Lime Yellow Metallic exterior, accentuated by sleek black decals that signify its rarity. To emphasise its unique nature, a distinctive plaque bearing a unique number is elegantly placed on the passenger side of the dashboard. As the pinnacle of the Golf lineup, it’s only natural that this model comes fully equipped with an array of premium features. These include advanced matrix LED headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, and a powerful 480-watt Harman Kardon audio system.
Volkswagen equips the vehicle with 19-inch Estoril black wheels covered in high-performance tyres. Additionally, it features an upgraded exhaust system, the R Performance exhaust, created in collaboration with Akrapovič, which includes titanium rear silencers. Furthermore, the electronic speed restriction on the Golf R 333 is adjusted, allowing it to achieve a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h) after accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.6 seconds. This acceleration time is one-tenth of a second faster than the standard R model.
Volkswagen (VW) has announced that starting from June 2, customers residing in Germany can now place orders for their vehicles directly from their homes. Production of these orders is set to commence in September, and the first deliveries are expected to take place in October. VW has also planned a special event at their Autostadt facility, also known as “Automobile City,” in Wolfsburg for all customers who choose to collect their cars from there.
Genuine Golf enthusiasts will find that the Golf R 333 does not come at an affordable price, as VW is asking for €76,410 in its home country of Germany. The cost becomes rather astonishing when you compare it to the retail price of the 2022 Golf R 20 Years Edition, which was already quite steep at €59,995 in Deutschland. For reference, the 2023 Golf R starts at AED 206,650 in the UAE.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the United States didn’t receive the enhanced 20 Years Edition, although they did have a 20th Anniversary Edition recently that shared the same power as the standard Golf R. Additionally, the US market, unfortunately, doesn’t offer the Golf R Variant, which could potentially fulfill all the automotive requirements one could desire.
