A few years back, Nissan unveiled the fifth-generation Pathfinder in the United States as a 2022 model, but the three-row SUV has yet to arrive in China. At the ongoing Auto Shanghai event, a concept version of the Pathfinder is being showcased, with some differences from the North American model to cater to Chinese preferences.
Although the core structure remains the same, there are new front and rear light bars giving the Pathfinder concept a contemporary feel. The headlights have been refined, and separate daytime running lights are integrated with an expanded grille compared to the US model. Nissan has reimagined the front bumper, removing the fog lights for a more streamlined appearance.
The conceptual Pathfinder features 3D-effect taillights and a fresh roof-mounted spoiler. As this is a concept, Nissan has eliminated the rear wiper and added low-profile roof rails for a sleeker look. The eye-catching two-tone wheel design, with five sets of six spokes, is hard to overlook, as is the unique “Massive Absorbing” wording on the tire sidewall.
The interior largely resembles the Pathfinder available at Nissan dealerships, but it includes copper accents and redesigned air vents. The dual-screen setup has been modified slightly, with the displays now combined with a thick bezel. Whether these minor alterations foreshadow an update for North America or will be exclusive to the upcoming Chinese model remains uncertain.
Nissan has not provided specific information about the Pathfinder, only mentioning that the concept is being displayed at Auto Shanghai alongside the newest Qashqai. The smaller crossover is making its Chinese debut before its market launch in August.
