Amid the flurry of fervent fanfare surrounding the digital debut earlier this week, the much-anticipated 2024 Hyundai Sonata is now showcasing its resplendent grandeur to the masses at the Seoul Motor Show. In addition to offering fresh, compelling imagery, the South Korean automaker is divulging additional information regarding its audacious and invigoratingly overhauled midsize sedan. The powertrain options will include a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre engine, a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine (reserved explicitly for the N Line), as well as a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain.

However, it’s rather perplexing that a prototype vehicle with a conspicuous sticker on its windshield alluding to AWD capabilities was recently spotted. Yet, Hyundai has made no mention of the all-wheel drive being available for the 2024 Sonata. This fact is even more confounding, considering the mechanically related Kia K5 has been successfully transferring the engine’s power to both axles for a significant amount of time. Adding to the enigma is the lack of concrete technical specs about the trio of powertrains.

Hyundai’s Sonata has received a notable makeover, boasting a “sensational styling” that impresses at first glance. However, the vehicle’s aesthetics isn’t the only area of improvement. Thanks to body reinforcements and a new material for the steering wheel, the Sonata now offers lower noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels, elevating the driving experience to a new level of refinement.

But there’s more to this upgrade than meets the eye. The Sonata’s structural enhancements also include a revolutionary crash energy distribution structure designed to protect occupants in the event of a side collision. The complex engineering behind this feature is a testament to Hyundai’s unwavering commitment to safety.

But let’s not overlook the Sonata’s high-tech upgrades. The vehicle boasts a stunning curved display, equipped with a pair of 12.3-inch screens that deliver an immersive visual experience. And that’s not all – a 12-inch head-up display enhances the driving experience by projecting important information onto the windshield, ensuring the driver’s attention remains focused on the road.

Hyundai has also incorporated over-the-air updates into Sonata’s software, ensuring the vehicle remains up-to-date with the latest features and functionality. And if that’s not enough, Bose has collaborated with the automaker to fine-tune the 12-speaker sound system, providing an audio experience that’s nothing short of spectacular.

Finally, for those who prefer a more streamlined approach, the Sonata supports the use of a digital key via a smartphone or smartwatch. This cutting-edge feature is just one example of how Hyundai is leveraging technology to enhance the driving experience.

The intriguing smart key feature allows for remote parking control via a smartphone. Not only that, but the vehicle also boasts a remarkable ability to exit a parking spot by reversing and forwarding, all done with the touch of a button. And let’s not forget the impressive electrically operated trunk lid, which adds a touch of convenience to the Sonata’s already impressive repertoire of features.

But wait, there’s more! The 2024 Sonata also comes equipped with a Rear Occupant Alert, a safety feature that ensures the safety of passengers in the back seat. And as if that weren’t enough, the Sonata also boasts an array of safety and assistance systems, starting with front and rear crash avoidance warnings to adaptive cruise control with stop & go functionality. With all these features, it’s no wonder that the thoroughly revised Hyundai Sonata made a splash at the 2023 Seoul Motor Show in South Korea and is set to hit global markets later this year.
