If you love following EVs, you definitely would have heard about Nio electric automaker from China. However, you might not know that Nio is one of the biggest EV makers in the world, with around 1,000 battery-changing stations in the People’s Republic and increasing business in Europe. Nio recently unveiled a new model, the ES7, in China and has decided to introduce it to Europe with the name EL7.
It is an SUV EV that recently got reviewed by Wheelsboy, who has shared some pictures as well. If you want to see their video review, you can check it out here.
Getting back to the EL7, it is a five-seat family SUV with clean exterior styling which is not bad in the world of dynamically-designed SUVs. The EV uses Nio’s new platform, but it has lots of similarities with the previous models. For instance, we can see the slim headlights on the front and a single long LED bar at the back are similar to other Nio vehicles.
The interior also has lots of familiar elements from the ET5 sedan. Two displays – one is the instrument cluster and the other is the infotainment. Besides, the SUV comes equipped with regular heated, cooled, and leather massaging seats, and a 23-speaker premium audio system.
The power comes from a dual motor setup that generates 644 horsepower (480 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque. The available 100-kilowatt-hour battery unit can deliver up to 385 miles (620 kilometers) between charges according to China’s CLTC cycle.
Nio is selling the ES7 in China at a starting price of $64,000 (present exchange rates), which can jump to $72,000. However, the price in Germany will be a little higher. The base variant will be available for €73,900.
We would love to have it in the UAE.
