The Bugatti Mistral first showed its face at Pebble Beach 2022 with a promise to start deliveries in 2024. And now the French automaker has showcased this special edition hypercar at Bugatti Riyadh showroom in Saudi Arabia. The limited-run Bugatti has already been sold out.
The Mistral went on a journey around Riyadh, with the first stop at the King Abdullah Financial District followed by a break at the Ritz Carlton Riyadh before reaching SAMACO Automotive, Bugatti’s sole distributor and partner in Saudi Arabia.
“For many years, the residents of the Kingdom have admired the incomparable heritage, craftsmanship, and performance of Bugatti, and we’re honored to be able to bring our ultimate roadster to the Kingdom for a rare glimpse at this incomparable car,” stated Kostas Psarris, Regional Director Middle East and Asia at Bugatti.
The hypercar uses the familiar quad-turbocharged, 8.0-litre W16 powerplant that also thunders in the Chiron Super Sport 300+, generating the same 1,577 horsepower (1,159 kilowatts) output as well. However, the maximum speed is limited to 261 mph (420 km/h) instead of SS’s 304.774 mph (490.484-kph) top speed.
As you can see in the pictures, the Mistral is a roadster built on the Chiron. Bugatti Deputy Design Director Franks Heyl told the media that customers wanted a roadster, and we found a way to transform the Chiron coupe into the roadster.
With Mistral, we are finally seeing a departure of the W-16 engine, as the automaker is working with Rimac to electrify its lineup. There is a long way to go in the evolution, but we can see some design cues like X-shaped taillights to be available in future models.
