Jeep is working on an all-electric Wagoneer, and we came to know about it in September. While the automaker called it the Wagoneer S during the reveal, it will not be its real name. Jeep actually wants you to select the EV’s name and has started a contest. It will allow you to suggest a name, and if you win, you will get a $40,000 gift pack.
The contest started yesterday, November 23, and will last till Friday, December 2. You can submit your entries here. The name should be 5 characters or less. The winner will enjoy a ski journey to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The grand prize comprises lodging, lift tickets, rentals, guidelines, and a $1,000 gift card to the trading store.
The Jeep Wagoneer S is not the only electric vehicle that would leave the American automaker’s assembly line in the future. A tough-looking Recon EV SUV will also be a part of the EV lineup. Both these Jeep electric SUVs will hit assembly lines in 2024.
So what do we know so far about the Wagoneer S? Well, Jeep will build it on the STLA platform, and it will deliver up to 600 horsepower (441 kilowatts). The company estimates a zero to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) sprint in 3.5 seconds and up to 400 miles of range. Single and dual-motor models will be available with standard all-wheel-drive.
Jeep plans to open order books at the start of next year. Since the sale will not start until 2024, we have time for the official debut, which we believe will happen at the upcoming CES. It would be an ideal platform where automakers reveal new tech and EVs.
If we see the images of the Wagoneer S, we take it as a sleek and aerodynamic SUV. It will feature “all-terrain management” and “advanced Jeep brand-focused technology.”
