The China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website shows us a few pictures of two new Buick vehicles. All new vehicles that are introduced in China go through the MIIT for testing. The pictures taken here are sometimes released online before the official debut of the vehicles.
Among the two Buick vehicles, the first one is the refreshed Encore GX. The fascia looks inspired by the Electra-X EV concept. The company’s new motif is there in the middle of the daytime running lights and we see artificial intake vents, which are common among makers these days. The rear isn’t as evolutionary as the front though.
The other Buick vehicle is the Electra E5 crossover, which is also enthused by the Electra-X concept. We can see thin DRLs slotted over the separate headlight units, similar to the Encore. However, the Electra E5 distinguishes itself by exposing its electric powertrain through closed-off grille. The heavy battery pack makes the floor thick and give the vehicle a boxier rear-end style.
We are not sure when the Electra E5 will come to America and the Gulf countries. GM applied for nine new trademarks in October 2022 – from the Buick Electric E1 to Electra E9. The first EV is scheduled for the 2024, which will carry Cadillac Lyriq’s dimensions and use the GM’s Ultium platform
The Buick Encore GX came in America in 2020. The available model is being marketed as the 2023 model. Therefore, the new model will be destined for the 2024. We expect to see the launch of the new GX very soon. The E5 debut would probably happen at the CES.
