Zeekr, the luxury brand of Chinese carmaker Geely has introduced their second offering after the 001 wagon. The EV brand’s second model is a minivan. Dubbed the 009 Zeekr minivan, it has a big fake grille using 154 programmable LEDs.
The Zeekr 009 electric luxury minivan is massive in size with 5209 millimeters (205 inches) length, 2024 mm (80 in) width, and 1867 mm (74 in) height. Its substantial wheelbase of 3205 mm (126 in) offers a roomy three-row cabin with 2+2+2 seating or an available 2+2 executive setting. Although it appears as a boxy vehicle, its drag coefficient of 0.27 is outstanding low, assisted by what the company says is the biggest aerodynamic windscreen in the class.
With a weight of 2,830 kilograms (6,239 pounds), the Zeekr 009 is one of the weightiest electric vehicles on the market but it is quick. The automaker claims a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration in 4.5 seconds thanks to a dual-motor setup creating 536 horsepower. The EV uses Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture platform that also supports the Smart #1, Polestar 4, and the Lotus Eletre SUV.
For such a huge vehicle, a big battery is required. The Zeekr comes equipped with a 140-kWh lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery created by CATL. It delivers 511 miles (822 kilometers) of range, according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).
Apart from the remarkable range, the AWD minivan also offers some other excellent features, such as air suspension and the biggest one-piece die-cast aluminum structure employed in a road-going automobile. Fixed at the rear, the huge piece is 1400 mm (55 in) long and 1600 mm (57 in) wide.
The interior appears pretty traditional compared to the exterior, but it has some exciting features such as a 15.6-inch display fixed on the ceiling, voice recognition for every seat, a big 585 cm2 table, an in-car communication system, and massaging seats covered in Nappa leather.
The Chinese automaker says it is the safest minivan worldwide thanks to 30 driver assistant features that come standard. The safety is ensured through 12 short-range ultrasonic radars, one ultra-long-range wave radar, four 2MP surround view cameras, and seven 8 MP HD cameras.
The dominant-looking Zeekr 009 will hit Chinese dealerships in 2023. The 001 has been selling very well, with above 10k sales last month in China.
