Ford has finally verified the 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of the F-150 Lightning. However, the exact figure is still a mystery since the Blue Oval only said it can hit 60 mph (96 kilometres per hour) in fewer than four seconds. A sub-four-second acceleration time for a heavy truck like F-150 is exceptional, and it makes it stand out in the row of high-performance vehicles. Ford mentioned about 4.5-seconds of acceleration time earlier.

It is worth noting that this performance figure will only be possible through the extended-range battery, which is optional for the XLT and Lariat, costing a little more than $80,000. Platinum has this pack as standard equipment.

When Ford started building the Lightning in April, they said the EV truck would create more HP than what they marketed earlier. They boosted the extended battery’s 563 horsepower rating to 580 hp. The standard battery’s performance figure of 426 hp also increased to 452 hp. However, the 775 pound-feet (1,050 Newton meters) of torque remained the same.

While it is good news for performance-hungry buyers, the supply chain problems have forced the company to raise the price by $7,100, which is a significant increase. However, Ford’s EV truck is still less expensive than its rivals like the Rivian R1T and GMC Hummer EV. The base Chevy Silverado EV might give it a tough time, though, with sales starting next year.

All new electric vehicles now come equipped with the latest tech and high-performance capabilities. A sub-four-second pickup truck seems very fascinating for thrill seekers, even though it is expensive. The Lightning is still very new, and it is selling like hotcakes. Ford’s formula to offer consumers exciting products appears to be working effectively.
