The high-performance automotive tuning company Brabus has brought us yet another masterpiece. Called the Brabus P900 Rocket Edition, based on the Mercedes-AMG G63, it is a performance pickup truck with massive upgrades.
When we say massive, you can imagine Brabus turning the G63 SUV into a pickup truck and then making the desired powertrain and styling changes.
Powertrain Changes
Starting with the powertrain tune-ups, the Brabus Mercedes-AMG G63 Pickup uses the stock 4.0-litre V8 mill, which grows bigger and more powerful. Yes, the displacement is increased to 4.5-litre by enlarging the engine’s bore and stroke and fixing newly built pistons and a customized billet crankshaft. Furthermore, the tuner has added a fresh high-performance exhaust for enhanced sound.
Another update is the improved turbochargers, offering more boost pressure while adjusting the powerplant’s management software. New maps for injection, ignition, and boost pressure control found a place in the tuned pickup truck.
The result is 900 horsepower (662 kilowatts), 315 hp extra than what the G63 produces. Besides, the torque improved to 992 pound-feet (1,250 Newton-meters), but the tuner had to limit it to 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm).
In addition to capped torque, Brabus has also regulated the max speed at 175 miles per hour (280 kilometers per hour). The weight of the vehicle stands at 5,997 pounds (2,720 kilograms), but the tuning has made the engine so powerful that P900 Rocket Edition can hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.7 seconds only.
Body Kit
The tuned G63 also gets a steel truck bed frame with carbon bedsides and a widebody kit, stretching its width by 3.9 inches (100 millimeters). Other visible changes include an integrated front spoiler, a hood cowl, front and rear fender flares, a rear diffuser, a roof-mounted wing, and more design transformations. Twenty-four-inch Brabus Monoblock Z Platinum Edition wheels come regular for the P900 Rocket Edition.
The unit we can see in the pictures here is finished in Rocket Grey, but the interested customers can have it in any shade they like. The gray distinction with the daring black leather and red accents accentuates the interior look.
Pricing
The Brabus P900 Rocket Edition will be highly limited, as the German tuner will only build 10 units. The current price stands at €649,638 ($639,380 approximately). The price is exclusive of 19 per cent VAT.
