The fourth week of Dodge’s Last Call Special Edition models brings another exclusive model for the fans. So far, we have seen four limited edition Chargers and Challengers boasting appearance packages for the Scat Pack trim levels. However, the orange Charger displayed here is an entirely special beast. In reality, it is the brawniest Charger that Dodge ever built.
Dodge calls it the Charger King Daytona, and it is not built on the naturally aspirated Scat Pack. It is based on the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, giving it an additional 10 horsepower for good reasons.
Powertrain
The power comes from a supercharged 6.2-litre22 V8 pumping out 807 hp, which is precisely the same as the Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock offered when it came two years ago. The King Daytona wears 20-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels with orange Brembo brakes peeking from behind. The suspension and eight-speed automatic gearbox come from the donor car.
Exterior
The remaining changes are purely aesthetic. Of course, the most prominent thing is the exterior shade of Go Mango orange, which will be the only option for Charger King Daytona. Dodge amplifies the appearance with chrome emblems, dark graphics on the hood, roof, trunk, and, obviously, the King Daytona badge on the quarter panels.
Interior
The interior complements the exterior with a dark theme boasting orange opposing stitching. We can see Daytona sewed on the seat back and an orange King Daytona emblem on the passenger side dashboard. Additionally, as we do other Last Call editions, the Last Call plate is fixed under the hood.
Production
The most powerful Dodge special edition model will be super exclusive. While the
Challenger Shakedown, Charger Super Bee, and the Challenger/Charger Swingers are limited to 1,000 units, the company decided to only develop 300 examples of the Charger King Daytona.
Dodge is building this Last Call edition to pay respect to William “Big Willie” Robinson, a famous drag racer during the 1960s and 1970s. He used to drive ’69 Charger called – yes, you are right – King Daytona.
The sixth Last Call special edition model will show its face to the public on September 21. The seventh and last in the series will debut at the 2022 SEMA Show, starting in early November.
These Dodge muscle cars inherit the ability to become Classics since they will be the last of the gas-powered models from Dodge.
