Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia – a part of Hyundai Motor Group – have reigned supreme in the J.D. Power’s annual US Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study for 2022.

With the best score (premium segment) in the 2022 Vehicle Dependability Study previously, Genesis also ranks highest in the US TXI Study in both premium and overall class, with an Innovation Index rating of 643 (on a 1,000-point scale). The Korean luxury car marque defeated Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz in the new 2022 J.D. Power study.

On the other hand, Hyundai (534) tops the mass car market ranking chart, with Kia (495) following it. Surprisingly, only Hyundai and Kia have got a place in the top 10 positions in overall innovation. Besides, they are the only conventional car marques that have surpassed the industry average Innovation Index total of 486.

It is worth saying that Tesla and Polestar didn’t get a ranking even with the best scores. Tesla received 681 points in the Innovation Index but wasn’t ranked because the American EV maker doesn’t permit J.D. Power to access the owner details in states where the law allows authorization.

The US TXI Study completes the J.D. Power US Initial Quality Study (IQS), and US Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study and determines the effectiveness of techs the auto companies offer.

J.D. Power collected replies from 84,165 owners of new 2022 model-year automobiles after 3 months of ownership – from February to May 2022.

Regarding the study, the most awkward tech for owners was the fingerprint reader. J.D. Power added this feature in the survey this year and found that owners rate it the lowest in the overall satisfaction ranking. It even went lower than interior gesture control tech, which has been placed the lowest for the last two years.

The survey also brought out an interesting fact about the advanced technology features. The car owners highly regard and continuously use those tech functions that dealers explain to them carefully before the purchase. It emphasizes the crucial part of dealers in the acknowledgment of the new tech among car holders.
