Chevrolet revealed the third-generation Colorado pickup truck last month with plenty of updates. While the mid-size truck already had a dedicated off-road ZR2 variant in the lineup, the automaker has more on offer for those looking to hit the sand dunes. Enter the Colorado ZR2 race truck.
The off-road-focused truck will break cover at the Best in the Desert event, Chevrolet announced on their Facebook page. Unfortunately, that’s all we know so far about the truck.
However, we can make out some information about the ZR2 off-road race truck through its official images. The sand-conquering truck is made in association with Chad Hall Racing, which is evident from the uniform the truck wears.
While details of the changes are not available right now, we can get some idea from the previous ZR2 off-road race truck. That model had specialized racing components mainly focused on updated suspension for the desert. These parts were also accessible for any customers looking to upgrade their trucks for sand conquering ventures.
The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado will hit the dealerships in the first quarter of next year. The automaker has already told us that they will make accessible over 200 accessories for the pickup truck comprising a grille light bar, changeable assist step off-road bumper lights, and an interior switch plate for the off-road focused ZR2.
For those who are not aware, the Chad Hall Racing Colorado ZR2 has been a part of the sand race for the last 5 years. It is the only truck in its segment that has crossed the finish line successfully in all races since 2017. By last year, the truck had already covered 22,500 miles during the races.
