Volkswagen has introduced the 2023 ID.4 with a new base Standard trim level and some changes across the lineup. The EV will be built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and hit the roads this fall.
VW has made some visual changes on the outside for the 2023 model year. For instance, we can distinguish the front bumper having shiny black trim. The interior now has a 12-inch infotainment display in all the trim levels, replacing the previous 10-inch screen from the old base model. Besides, the forward collision warning system adds cyclist detection, and Park Assist Plus tech is also a part of the safety equipment.
The new ID.4 Standard will cost $38,790 (including the $1,295 destination charge). This price is $3,735 lower than the previous base trim level. The lower price is due to the less powerful battery pack. The new Standard gets a 62-kilowatt-hour battery pack instead of the 82-kWh battery available previously. The new battery delivers around 208 miles (335 kilometers) against 275 miles (443 kilometers) for the Pro with the more powerful battery. The Standard with one electric motor creates 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts).
The new entry-level trim gets LED headlights and 19-inch wheels on the outside. The interior has fabric upholstery with leatherette on the seat side bolsters. There are two interior tones – a Stone shade with black and gray trim and Nutmeg with brown trim. Other salient features include dual-zone climate control, a six-speaker stereo, and heated seats.
The new ID.4 S gets better with adaptive LED headlights, glowing VW logos, and 20-inch wheels. The seats have perforated leatherette inserts, and the front seats have eight-way power adjustment and four-way massage lumbar. Other desirable facilities comprise a heated steering wheel, a panoramic fixed glass roof with an electric sunshade, and a power tailgate.
The new Pro S Plus model swaps the Gradient package from the 2022 model year. We can easily distinguish this trim with its black roof with silver rails, silver trim on the bumpers, and a model-unique style for the 20-inch wheels. Besides the power-folding mirrors, we like the Area View camera system, three-zone climate control with rear controls, and heated outer rear seats.
For comparison, we have created a price table of 2022 ID.4 and 2023 ID.4.
