It is true we yearn for those things more that we cannot have. While Americans can have the BMW 3 series, they cannot get their hands on the new refreshed 2023 BMW Alpina B3 sedan (also known as Saloon) and wagon (also known as Touring), officially (they can still import these). Alpina has specifically tuned the new BMW 3 Sedan and BMW Wagon for customers in the old continent and other select markets.
Restyled
The upgrades from Alpina are both of cosmetic and mechanical nature. From the aesthetic point of view, the Alpina’s offerings come with redesigned exterior parts and a modified dashboard. We can see the front bumper is more angular and the headlights are thinner than the standard models. Inside, the front occupants can find a big curved touchscreen that covers almost the whole dash. The curved display includes s a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen to entertain the passengers. While you might feel the exterior and interior changes aren’t substantial, you cannot say the same for the mechanicals.
Retuned
Besides getting new design cues and some technological features, the 2023 Alpina B3s get a tuned powerplant. The engineers at Alpina worked hard to update the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six mill, aiding it in breathing fluently through a fresh exhaust system in addition to using a new engine software. The changes bring a bump in horsepower and torque, with the horsepower output of 462 hp rising to 495 hp and torque output from 516 to 538 pound-feet.
Alpina Specific Elements
Other elements that make Alpina models different from the regular BMW 3-series are optional multispoke 20-inch wheels (a pair of 19-inch wheels is regular). Looking closely, we can find the “Alpina” script on the lower edge of the front bumper and unique emblems on the sedan’s trunk lid and wagon’s hatch at the back. The interior too clearly shows it is Alpina thanks to a panel on the centre console mentioning individual build number. There are plenty of options for Alpina’s interior, more than what we get for the regular BMW 3-series.
Price
Those interested in buying the 2023 Alpina B3 Saloon and the Touring models can order through Australia or UK website. For UK customers, both models are available at a starting price of around $98,000. The wagon is a little costlier than the sedan and it looks stunning in Green. We are not sure about the arrival of these two models in the UAE.
