Toyota has introduced the Venza Nightshade Edition for the 2023 model year. The present-generation came in 2021 and this new addition is here to spice things up for the crossover. As the name implies, the Nightshade Edition comes with various black elements. Besides, it gets some extra equipment compared to the regular model.

Exterior

Toyota buyers are not new to the Nightshade Edition. The automaker offers this appearance package for various vehicles and they all share the same formula. The 2023 Venza isn’t different. It builds on the XLE model and boasts acrylic front grille trim, and smoked chrome moldings on the front and back areas. Checking the side, we find the mirrors and door handles get black along with the rocker panels. The optional roof rails are black, too. A black shark fin antenna is also a part of the package.

The 2023 Venza Nightshade Edition is accessible in three premium shades: Ruby Flare Red, Celestial Black, or a hue of white known as Wind Chill Pearl. The special edition puts on 19-inch spoke wheels, and although these are not limited to this model, buyers can only have them in black in this design. Blackened emblems are part of the design, as expected.

Interior

Inside, we do not find exclusive upgrades for this special edition. However, the Nightshade features extra standard equipment. On the dash, we find a bigger 12.3-inch display. Just for comparison, the Limited model has a 10-inch HUD and eight-way power passenger seats.

The Venza offers 28.8 cu. ft. with all seats up and 55.1 cu. ft. with the rear seats folded.

Safety

Toyota makes sure the Venza Nightshade is as safe as other vehicles in the lineup. So, expect the crossover to come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, offering a variety of driver-assist and safety techs. Some of the advanced features include full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control and Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. The latter comes with improvements over the previous generation, encompassing the capacity to identify an approaching car or a walker at junctions while making a turn. The system can identify cars, pedestrians, and bicyclists and offers audio/visual warnings with automatic braking in specific circumstances.

Other tech includes Emergency Steering Assist, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist, Rear Seat Reminder, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.

Toyota offers fog lights on the XLE trim, and for this darkened model, buyers can combine them with a panoramic roof. On the other hand, the glass roof is elective.

Powertrain

Powering the 2023 Venza Nightshade is the standard-issue powerplant plus a lithium-ion battery. The crossover houses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors, energizing all the wheels. The hybrid powertrain creates a total output of 219 horsepower (163 kilowatts) and delivers an EPA-estimated range of 39 mpg combined.

Price and Availability

Unfortunately, Toyota did not reveal its price nor anything about its availability.
