Small crossovers and SUVs are most favourite vehicles for motorists around the globe. It is the reason we see many automakers introducing new crossovers in different markets. The Hyundai Grand Creta is a pure example of this popularity. Introduced in South Africa, it is a seven-seater compact crossover that uses an altered platform many other vehicles employ from Kia and Hyundai. The Venue is one such example, which is accessible in the U.S., in two-row, five-seat guise.

Size and Cargo

The modified K2 platform improves the length and wheelbase of the crossover, thus allowing the automaker to add two more seats behind the second row. The increased room also gives the Grand Creta more cargo capacity. Behind the third row, the owner will benefit from 63 cubic feet (180 cubic liters), which increased to an enormous 58.9 cubic feet (1,670 cubic liters) when you fold down all the seats.

Powertrain

The 2022 Hyundai Grand Creta carries a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder creating 156 horsepower (117 kilowatts) and 140 pound-feet (191 Newton-meters) of torque. Diesel fans would be happy to pick a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, pumping out 113 hp (85 kW) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. The base variant mates to a six-speed manual

The entry-level model arrives with a six-speed manual, but customers can also choose a six-speed auto.

Trim Levels and Standard Features

The 2022 Grand Creta comes to Thailand in two variants – Executive and Elite. Since there are only two available trims, Hyundai made sure to include all the desired features buyers expect from a crossover SUV. It is the reason the base Executive comes equipped with wireless phone charging, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rearview camera, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support. If we see the exterior, the two prominent features are LED headlights and 17-inch rims.

The Elite, being the range-topper, gets bigger 18-inch wheels, push-button start, a panoramic sunroof, parking sensors, and other facilities. Perhaps, one of the coolest things you would find in the Creta Elite is the fold-down trays for the second-row occupants. The top trim also includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a powered driver’s seat.

The driving comfort is ensured through a MacPherson strut suspension setup in the front and a linked torsion beam axle at the rear. To make it a capable machine for different conditions, Hyundai offers Snow, Mud, Sand, Eco, Sport, and Normal drive modes.

The crossover SUVs are not only popular in the UAE and USA, they are getting attention in other parts of the world as well for their utility, practicality, comfort, and power. Automakers offer different models for different markets according to their dynamics.

While the Creta is available in the UAE as a two-row model, its accessibility in the three-row guise here is still not confirmed.
