Audi has shown us a few glimpses of the new A6 Avant E-Tron concept model, and boy it looks stunning. Unfortunately, only the exterior images are available for now, so we can’t tell anything about the interior. The company will transform it into a production model in 2024 sporting most of the concept design cues.

Design

The front design of the new Audi A5 Avant E-Tron has Audi cues. Owing to the electric powertrain, the grille vents are mostly closed. We can find functional inlets on both edges of the vehicle for enhanced aerodynamics.

The extremely-slim headlights allow owners to set their individual daytime running light signature, and they will be available for the production version.

Perhaps, the A6 Avant’s most striking design element is an aluminum piece starting from the A-Pillar, through the edge of the roof, and ending at the rear spoiler. At the rear, we find a curved roofline, full-width taillights with 3D hints, and a noticeable diffuser with oval-designed vents under it.

Size and Platform

Speaking of the A6’s Avant E-Tron dimensions, it is similar to what we had seen in the A6 Sportback E-Tron Concept. Therefore, it is 16.3 feet (4.96 meters) long, 6.4 feet (1.96 meters) wide, and 4.7 feet (1.44 meters) tall. The only dissimilarity is in the rear design where the electric wagon gets a more angular roof for an improved cargo room. The style changes give it a drag coefficient of 0.24 against 0.22 of the Sportback.

The A6 Avant E-Tron Concept is built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), also promised for the upcoming Q6 E-Tron. The powertrain includes one electric motor on every axle creating 469 horsepower (350 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque collectively.

Battery

The automaker didn’t reveal the battery capacity but hinted it to be around 100 kilowatt-hours. Using an 800-volt, 270-kilowatt charger, the owners can add 186 miles (300 kilometers) as per the WLTP cycle in only 10 minutes. Additionally, the vehicle will take 25 minutes to juice up from 5 to 80 per cent.

Audi says different powertrains will offer different performance numbers with the least powerful offering 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in fewer than seven seconds and the range-topper doing the same in less than 4.0 seconds. Furthermore, we can expect the rear-wheel-drive A6 Avant to deliver 435 miles (700 kilometers) on a charge.

Availability

Audi has been mum regarding the availability of the A6 Avant E-Tron in the United States. According to a company representative, a future RS version might be the one Audi plans to sell in America. The Allroad model will initially be accessible in its home market.
