The Dubai Police have announced to recruit 400 Ghiath smart patrols to its force in the next five years. While talking to the media, Lieutenant-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of Police in the Emirate stated that they have invested Dh196 million to make Ghiath patrols in the UAE. These police surveillance vehicles will be patrolling the streets soon.
The Ghiath vehicles include a 360-degree camera, eight exterior inspection cameras, and a facial and licence plate recognition system.
The interior features an integrated 16-inch central display, a commanding onboard computer connected to the central control centre, a big passenger screen, an android tablet tied to the dispatcher, a cam to check driver’s conduct and an in-cabin observation.
In addition to the above-mentioned features, the Ghiath vehicles come equipped with a customized rear bench, grills, a defensive cage, a specifically created section in the cargo area to carry rescue and safety gear, along with a personalised drone box with a cutting-edge drone onboard.
The government plans to grow the Ghiath fleet with a drone edition, SWAT vans, rescue and first responder automobiles, e-vehicles, E-motorcycles, etc.
The Ghiath was first introduced at GITEX 2018 and its name was devised by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The statement to add Ghiath into the Dubai Police fleet was made by Lt.-Gen. Al Marri while formally presenting the second generation smart patrol. These vehicles are created in collaboration with W Motors and Safe City Group.
Al-Marri told the media that 10 Ghiath vehicles have already been handed over to the Police department during the World Police Summit at Expo 2020. “The features and capabilities of the Ghiath are exactly in line with our requirements and allow us to stay at the forefront of international security vehicle standards.”
Undoubtedly, patrol vehicles boast innovative technologies. W Motors is fully capable to produce these surveillance vehicles at their plant in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Ralph R. Debbas, creator and chief executive officer of W Motors, stated: “We are proud to have delivered the first Ghiath smart patrols to Dubai Police. This is a milestone not only for W Motors, but for the UAE’s automotive industry as we pave the way for manufacturing high-tech and pioneering vehicles locally. From design and engineering to innovative software development, with Ghiath we have created a state-of-the-art security vehicle that is now ready for duty. This is only the start of our partnership with Dubai Police, with many more exciting collaborative projects yet to come.”
