Yesterday, we provided you with all the available details about the 2022 Volkswagen ID. Buzz (passenger model). Today, we will discuss the Cargo model that comes with two or three-row seating arrangements and a huge load section behind the seats, separated by a partition wall. The 2022 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo has one sliding door on the right side but you can have one more on the left for additional cash.
While we have seen spy shots with barn doors, the example here comes with a big tailgate as we find in the passenger model. That said, the Cargo gets a little wider load sill, which is also a tad taller (1,938 mm / 76.3 in) with a marginally superior drag coefficient of 0.29. Things that are the same for passenger and cargo models are wheelbase of 2,988 mm (117.6 in), length of 4,712 mm (185.5 in), and width of 1,985 mm (78.1 in).
The partition wall behind the front seats gives you liberty to opt for a window and/or an opening to move things in and out. Speaking of load space, it is adequate to carry two euro-pallets and may hold a maximum load of 650 kilograms (1,433 pounds). VW says the cargo section offers a substantial 3,900 litres (137.7 cubic feet) space, whereas the gross vehicle weight stands at 3,000 kg (6,614 lbs).
Besides the generous cargo compartment, Volkswagen has made sure to offer a good number of convenience and storage facilities. Starting with five USB-C ports, the ID.Buzz cargo also has two cup-holders underneath the infotainment as well as another two in front of the A-pillars.
The two-seater ID. Buzz Cargo comes with a 1.4-litre storage section between the seats. It is basically a removable container you can easily remove and return in. The automaker chooses wood flooring as standard for the Cargo. For the exterior, the Cargo is available in both two-tone and a monochromatic body finish with exceptional 18-inch steel wheels.
To make the 2022 VW ID. Buzz Cargo as convenient and entertaining as the passenger model, Volkswagen offers a host of optional features such as exterior ambient lighting, an electrical tailgate, matrix LED headlights, and a folding trailer tow bar.
Other choices are a rearview camera, electrically folding and heated mirrors, 20-inch wheels, and wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay support.
As far as the power output is concerned, expect the ID. Buzz Cargo to come with the same rear electric motor as accessible in the passenger model. It generates 201 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque through the 82-kWh battery pack (77 kWh net) with the ability to charge at up to 170 kW. The range for both the ID. Buzz models are a mystery.
If you are in Europe, you can pre-order the 2022 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo from May and get your hands on it by the fall. While VW said it won’t be available in the U.S. we hope to get both the ID. Buzz models here in the GCC.
