Volvo introduced C40 Recharge EV last year – a more stylish variant of the XC40 Recharge featuring a dual-motor setup with AWD. Last week, the Swedish automaker unveiled a single-motor version powering the front wheels using a 69-kilowatt-hour battery. The dual-motor setup uses a 78-kWh (75-kWh usable) battery.

Volvo claims the new C40 Recharge variant can deliver up to 269 miles (434 kilometers) of range on the WLTP driving cycle. For comparison, we can tell the dual-motor C40 offers 210 miles (338 km) of EPA-estimated range and 261 miles (420 km) on the WLTP.

While we didn’t get the performance figures yet, we can tell the dual-motor C40 can generate 402 horsepower (300 kilowatts) and 487 pound-feet (660 Newton-meters) of torque. The single-motor powertrain in the XC40 Recharge delivers 231 hp (169 kW), and we believe the C40 Recharge single-motor will have it too.

As far as battery recharging is concerned, the C40 Recharge should be able to juice up to 80 from 10 per cent in around 32 minutes using a fast charger.

With the launch of the single-motor C40 Recharge, the automaker has also upgraded the XC40 Recharge with a new front bumper, a revised, frameless grille, renewed Thor’s Hammer lighting signature with pixel LED light technology, fresh paint, and rim options.

Volvo is keeping the sale data and pricing information under wraps for the single-motor C40 Recharge and the updated XC40.

Both the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge are available in the UAE starting at AED 270,400 and AED 265,279, respectively.
