After introducing the Ioniq 5 EV, Hyundai is progressing fast to introduce a few more zero-emission vehicles very soon. In fact, the company recently unveiled its strategy to bring 11 new electric vehicles by 2030. Hyundai’s luxury wing, Genesis will also introduce six new battery-electric vehicles with the Group aiming to sell 1.87 million EVs every year by the end of this decade.
So, what exactly is Hyundai’s strategy? Well, expect to see three electric sedans, six utility vehicles, one light commercial automobile, and one unnamed “new type model.” We will first see the Ioniq 6 this year and then the Ioniq 7 in 2024.
From Genesis, we shall have two electric “passenger vehicles” and four sports utility vehicles. The first to arrive in the market will be the electrified GV70.
Hyundai will not only introduce new EVs but will also make its development process more efficient through new technologies. In this regard, they have created a new organisation in Singapore.
Besides, Hyundai plans to enable more of its plants to create EVs. A new Indonesian factory will be ready to develop EVs sometime this year.
“Hyundai is successfully accelerating its transition to electrification and becoming a global leader in EVs despite a challenging business environment caused by the global chip shortage and ongoing pandemic,” Hyundai Motor CEO Jaehoon Chang said.
