The Japanese automaker Mazda is all set to expand its crossover range with the inclusion of the CX-50. It is actually a rugged version of the CX-5 and is a little lengthier and broader, but matches it in value and size.

The crossover was first unveiled in November last year and now the automaker has released its pricing details. The entry-level 2022 Mazda CX-50 will cost $28,025 (inclusive of $1,225 destination fee). The full pricing table is given below.

The base CX-50 2.5 S variant comes with a host of regular features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an eight-speaker audio system, push-button start, and a number of safety facilities. Expect the crossover to have blind-spot monitoring, land departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist. The power comes from the naturally aspirated Skayactiv-G 2.5-litre and it goes to all the wheels, standard on all variants.

A level above is the 2.5 S Select that improves with the dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, 40/60 split-folding rear seats, and a bigger 10.25-inch centre touchscreen instead of the standard 8.8-inch display.

The 2.5 S Preferred comes with extra convenience facilities such as heated side mirrors and windshield wipers, an eight-way power driver’s seat, and so on, costing $30,725 at least.

Those who like to enjoy extra oomph would find the 2.5-litre turbo mill highly capable. The engineers have added Off-Road, Sport, and Towing modes to this trim level. Another addition is the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It looks different from other variants owing to its bigger exhaust pipes, LED taillights, and adaptive LED headlights.
