Mercedes-Benz Group introduced the 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE on February 15 with plenty of exciting features. For the US, the company unveiled the high-performance EQE 53 model while for Europe, they have a less potent 43 trim level. This base variant though offers less power output, is highly capable when it comes to acceleration and top speed.

So, how the EQE 43 differs from the EQE 53? Let’s find out”

Well, both the variants are powered by two motors but the lesser variant is detuned to generate 469 hp (350 kW). The EQE 53 makes an additional 208 hp (155 kW) if you buy it with the elective AMG Dynamic Plus Package.

Comparing the torque of the two variants, the EQE 43 obviously offers less torque at 858 Newton-meters (633 pound-feet), which is 142 Nm (105 lb-ft) lower than the 53.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from zero in only 4.2 seconds, which is 0.9 seconds slower than its big brother. Furthermore, the top speed drops from 149 mph (240 km/h) to 130 mph (210 km/h).

Other dissimilarities between the two EQE’s are the non-availability of the AMG Dynamic Plus Package and the 4Matic+ for the 43. The less potent sedan does have 4Matic but without “+”, meaning the all-wheel-drive is less optimized compared to the 53.

The automaker indicates that the entry-level electric sedan has tuned motors from AMG while the 53 gets AMG-created e-motors employing adapted windings and laminations, better currents, and a particular inverter.

The absence of the AMG Dynamic Plus Package for the base model means it cannot benefit from the boost function. However, the driving modes would be the same for both the EQEs. As mentioned in our previous post, the power output will differ for different modes with the Slippery setting offering as low as 235 horsepower.

Both the variants of the new AMG electric sedan come equipped with rear-wheel steering offering an angle of up to 3.6 degrees. It lessens the turning radius and enhances stability at top speeds. Throw in an extra dough and you can have the air suspension originated from the EQS and the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.

The ceramic brakes are also an add-on, which you can have with the bigger 21-inch wheels only.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 will hit the European roads sometime this year. We are not sure which variant of the EQE will arrive here. However, we would love to have both in the UAE.

Stay tuned for more updates on the EQE!
