Short movies and videos have long been a part of marketing campaigns in this digital world. These videos are successful in targeting potential customers and ultimately convince them to purchase a product or service, or at least trigger an interest in it.
The German luxury automaker has used the same kind of ploy to advertise its G-Class SUV. The company released an eight-minute video featuring vampires. The short film came on Valentine’s Day with the tagline ‘Immortal Love.”
We do not know whether Mercedes is targeting immortal vampires or not but we do find the video very entertaining.
Rationally, the Mercedes G-Class offers a lifestyle that synchronizes with vampires. Its eternal styling is so distinctive that onlookers will never know the age of its vampire owner – except someone owns an AMG G65. Furthermore, the ‘Stronger than Time’ signature echoes brilliantly with the lives of vampires who do not age or die soon.
The Mercedes G-Class ad stars the global rising star Rimon. She is a singer/songwriter, who was born in Eritrea, and grew up in the Netherlands. She acts as an internationally famous star singer, living a double life.
Parallel to the brief video, the German company has also introduced a special meeting and experience area for the increasing G-Class community globally. Mercedes calls it the G‑Class Private Lounge, allowing you to meet other G-Class owners. Beware from the vampires though!
It is not the first time Mercedes created such a peculiar marketing ad for its vehicles. You will second us if you are familiar with the Concept EQG, the automaker introduced at the Munich Auto Show in 2021. The electric G-Class was portrayed alongside alien creatures to emphasize the utility vehicle’s entry into the electrified arena.
Would the market receive this positively or not, only time will tell. However, we do know that the G-Class is leaving the showrooms floors pretty quickly these days with 41,174 sales last year, which is the highest ever for the SUV. Besides, the Maybach and AMG also recorded extraordinary sales in 2021.
In the UAE, Mercedes offers the G-Class in two trim levels i.e. the G500 and AMG G63 starting at AED 485,511 and AED 696,467 respectively. These prices are for the 2021 model year, so expect the 2022 G-Class to be slightly pricier.
