The Mercedes-AMG SL is an extraordinary machine by all means. Perhaps, most owners like it for its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine generating 577 horsepower and its swopping hood. Besides, it is a superb car to drive both on the highways and through canyons. In the independent reviews of the AGM-SL roadster, most evaluators didn’t find any major issue.
You might wonder, for such a flawless machine, the physical and mechanical tweaks might not be required. But Manhart Performance thinks otherwise. The tuner updated the Mercedes-AMG SL by garnishing it with a black hue with opposite gold stripes as well as improved its horsepower rating. The outcome of the upgrades produces the new Manhart SL 800 R, where the number 800 signifies its horsepower rating.
Manhart has used the stock twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 and added new turbochargers in addition to a fresh intercooler and carbon intake.
While the company provided just these details for the engine tune-up, we believe the tuner has made other changes as well to allow the roadster to generate 800 hp and more than 738 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine sends power to the Manhart-distinctive rear wheels.
Manhart failed to give us the performance numbers of this speedy machine. However, taking into account the Mercedes-AMG SL63 performance specs offering 96 km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 196-mph, we can expect the SL 800 R quicker on its toes as well as in the straight line.
The German tuner has also lowered the roadster but again didn’t give us any information of the changes. Besides all these upgrades, Manhart is even ready to make additional upgrades – both inside and outside – as per the customer’s desires. In other words, you can tweak the SL design and engine output the way you always wanted.
In the column of things we don’t know about the SL 800 R, the pricing information is there, as well. If you are interested in modifying your Mercedes-AMG SL or want its new modified version from Manhart, you can contact the tuner now to add a little extra shock-and-awe to this brilliant car from AMG
