The British luxury automaker, Aston Martin has introduced a new ultra-high-performance utility vehicle boasting massive power and gorgeous looks. Welcome the performance variant of the DBX, the DBX707 featuring a well-known 4.0-litre V8 engine, tweaked to create 697 horsepower or 707 metric horsepower (thus the 707 name) and 663 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque.

Engine Tweaks

The alterations included a new pair of ball-bearing turbochargers and a new powerplant calibration to extract maximum from the boost. Of course, more air needs a better quality piping for exhaust. Therefore, the performance luxury SUV uses a fully new quad-exit active exhaust system for improved flow as well as for a delightful engine sound.

Upgraded Drivetrain

The increased power demands a better drivetrain and it is the area Aston Martin worked really hard on. The DBX707 employs a new nine-speed wet-clutch gearbox with automatic and manual modes letting the driver make faster shifts. The e-diff is more robust now with a shorter 3:27 final drive. The only transmission option is still all-wheel-drive, which is intelligent enough to distribute power to the front or rear according to the urgency.

Upgraded Chassis

To manage more power and offer better handling, Aston Martin had to reinforce the chassis. They did that in a proficient way with the updated dampers and springs, ensuring less body roll. Moreover, the engineers upgraded the Electronic Active Roll Control (eARC) system as well as the electronic steering system.

Carbon-ceramic disc brakes of 16.5 inches in front and 15.4 inches at back, fixed on six-piston calipers, perform stopping duties. The propelling task is entrusted to standard-issue 22-inch wheels, while the 23-inchers are optional.

Performance

Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers believes the DBX707 has the ability to conduct high-rev launch better than any other performance utility vehicle. For instance, with the “Race Start” mode, the SUV can hit 96.5 km/h (60 mph) in only 3.1 seconds and top out at 193 mph.

That makes it the fastest in the luxury utility vehicle league.

Interior

The automaker has made sure the fast speed doesn’t mar the luxurious credentials of the vehicle. Therefore, they added sport seats with dark chrome trim, while the comfort seats with conventional lighter chrome or carbon fibre polish are elective. The lower console allows drivers to change different drive and exhaust modes.

Exterior

On the outside, the brawny SUV features an assertive front fascia with a bigger grille, new air intakes, restyled daytime running lights, and a wide front splitter. The rear end also gets new elements such as the quad exhaust at the two opposite ends of the bumper and a big diffuser. Besides, lip spoiler is one very evident aspect of the rear design. We can also see lots of dark chrome and satin trim offering a dull effect.

DBX707 Price and Availability

Checking all the posh features and the updated powertrain and handling, we can’t expect it to be cheap. Yes, it demands a hefty $232,000 to begin with (without destination charges). The automaker plans to start production in the first quarter and deliver the finished machines in the second quarter of this year.
