The Ferrari 296 GTB isn’t available yet to customers, but that didn’t stop a German tuner from offering a performance package. DMC has introduced the Ferrari 296 GTB Squalo, which takes the V6 power to a new level. The package should be great for buyers worried about the slowness of the V6, though 653 horsepower from the engine alone can’t be considered slow.
The Ferrari 296 GTB is the first official prancing-horse-badged street car featuring a V-6 engine. We said it was a road car because the automaker used a lot of them on the race track.
Furthermore, it is the first hybrid from the company that doesn’t electrify the front axle, thus preserving weight and keeping the dynamic wholesomeness of rear-wheel-drive. The GTB is the second plug-in hybrid model in the Italian automaker’s lineup, with more to join in the future.
The Ferrari 296 GTB carries a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 mill pumping out 653 horsepower (487 Kilowatts). The engine is assisted by an electric motor that sits between the V6 and the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission to aid in minimizing the turbo lag and create a combined output of 819 horsepower (610 Kilowatts).
The engineers at DMC believe that the Ferrari 296 GTB comes with a lagging power, so they have developed a tuning package, named Squalo. This word refers to ‘shark’ in the Italian language, which is an ideal name for this impressive supercar.
Making different tweaks, the package adds another 80 horsepower to the engine’s output, meaning the GTB Squalo produces 723 horsepower (539 Kilowatts). That takes the total power figure to 888 horsepower (662 Kilowatts), which is truly exciting for a V6.
Helping in the power boost are the aerodynamic tweaks. DMC installed a fresh rear wing, rear diffusor, front lip spoiler, and side skirts. All these additions improve the supercar’s downforce as well as add to its beefy look and make it stand out from a typical GTB.
The exact pricing details of the new Ferrari 296 GTB aren’t available yet but we can tell you an estimated price. Dealerships in Europe say it will cost 269,000 Euros, which means the Squalo will be a little pricier than this.
If you can’t afford it, DMC will provide NFT and digital purchase options. They will even allow you to buy it with cryptocurrency if you have accumulated enough of it.
