Whether you like to purchase a vehicle or keep a tab in the automotive industry, Google is the first priority for most people. Therefore, it is only natural to find out the world’s most searched car brand through Google. For 2021, Australia’s Compare the Market has released its annual rating and the results are quite satisfactory for the Japanese automaker Toyota.
Toyota took the first spot in the list of most searched car brands. Out of 154 nations, the Japanese brand received the most hits in 47 countries, signifying 31 per cent of the sample. BMW got the second position as the most searched car brand in 29 nations, whereas Mercedes-Benz received the third spot in 23 countries.
Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz have been competing for the last four years to get the top position with BMW and Toyota going neck-to-neck. In 2019 though, BMW took the top spot for most searched car brand in 118 nations.
While Tesla has never been a part of this ranking, they have done a great job in 2021. The electric automaker was the most searched vehicle brand in Hong Kong, Israel, Macao, Singapore, and China.
Tesla also gained a second or third spot in searches made in Austria, the Bahamas, Botswana, Congo Kinshasa, Croatia, Finland, Guinea, Iceland, Kuwait, Madagascar, Malta, Norway, Palestine, Rwanda, South Africa, South Korea, Syria, the United States, and Yemen.
Truly, different markets prefer a brand differently every year, and we found that marques such as Audi, Hyundai, and Suzuki sparked more interest last year than in 2020. On the other hand, the brands like Rolls-Royce and Mazda have been emerging as the top-searched carmakers in no less than one country since 2018.
In contrast, marques such as Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Alfa Romeo, and Daewoo didn’t show up in the list of top searched brands in any of the 154 nations sampled.
