The Chevrolet Silverado EV is here featuring plenty of clever features that would entice pickup truck buyers. Perhaps, the biggest highlight of the truck is its 400 miles (644 km) range thanks to the largest Ultium battery pack GM has ever created.

Powertrain

With a dual-motor setup and all-wheel-drive, the flagship Chevrolet Silverado RST variant will be able to generate 664 horsepower (495 kilowatts) and over 780 pound-feet (1,063 Newton-meters) of torque. Use the Wide Open Watts (yes … WOW) mode and the truck will be able to hit 97 km/h (60mph) in less than 4.5 seconds. Chevy offers DC fast charging at 350kW to enable the electric truck to replenish 161 km (100 miles) of range in 10 minutes. The RST can tow up to 10,000-pounds or 1,300 pounds in the bed.

Besides the most powerful RST, Chevy offers the entry-level Work Truck (WT) model, which will also be available with a 400-mile range battery pack. The DC fast charging will be a standard affair. The automaker says this model will be able to create 510 hp (380 kW) and 615 lb-ft (834 Nm) of torque and tow 8,000 pounds. Those seeking to tow humongous weights can have the WT Fleet model later with up to 20,000 pounds of tow capacity.

Regarding the standard bed length, the WT’s bed is 5 feet 11 inches while the RST’s load floor space can stretch itself up to 10 feet 10 inches with a Multi-Flex tailgate.

Inside the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST, we get a large 17.0-inch centre screen, an 11-inch digital instrument, and a heads-up display. We do not know the exact size of the digital screens inside the WT, but both trucks will use the new Ultifi Linux-based software platform, created by GM.

Availability And Price

While the new truck EV looks very promising, you cannot get your hands on it until spring next year. Chevy says the Silverado EV WT will come first followed by RST in the fall, which will be the fully-loaded First Edition model with a price starting at $105,000 (without a $1,695 destination fee). The base WT will be accessible at $41,595 (including destination).

Once the production ramps up, Chevy will introduce other trim levels such as WT Fleet, Trail Boss, and more. The pricing of these trucks will start from around $40,000 and go beyond $80,000.

We expect to get more information on the 2023-24 Silverado EV trucks in the coming days. However, the reservation books have already been opened and we heard that the First Edition reservations filled up in just 12 minutes. That’s insane!
