Honda has revealed the new 2022 Civic Type R wearing a camouflage before its official debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon next month. The hot hatch appears better than before thanks to an assertive body kit design, a large wing at the rear, and a stylish wheel design.
The four-door hatchback-based Type R comes equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires with ten-spoke black wheels, red Brembo brake callipers and three exhaust tips at the back.
The powertrain details are still a mystery but we believe it will carry the turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four we find in the current model. It will create a slightly better power output than the present 306 hp and 295 pound-feet. The engine will mate to a six-speed manual transmission while the dual-clutch automatic transmission will probably be optional.
After its reveal at the Tokyo show, it should hit the roads in the US sometime in 2022 sporting a price tag of around $40K. Honda UAE doesn’t offer the Type R here. The only option here is the Civic sedan.
