Genesis has finally released the specifications for its first dedicated EV, which comes in single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations, similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
For the South Koran market, the 2022 Genesis GV60 will be available in two variants. The Standard RWD model will generate 225 horsepower (168 kilowatts) and 350 Newton-meters (475 pound-feet) of torque, while the AWD will produce 314 hp (234 kW) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft).
The AWD-only Performance Model creates 429 hp (320 kW) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft) in Sports Mode. However, it also offers Boost Mode that can increase the horsepower to 483 hp (360 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft).
Of note, the Boost Mode will remain active for only 10 seconds, allowing the electric car to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in four seconds, which is remarkable but less efficient than the Kia EV6 GT with a 3.5-second time.
About Drift Mode, Genesis said it “provides athletic driving by optimizing the distribution of driving power and braking system.”
In its home country, the 2022 GV60 will come equipped with a 77.4-kWh battery pack exclusively, offering fast charging at up to 350 kW. The automaker says the fast speed charger can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in only 18 minutes.
Speaking of drive range, Genesis says the base 2022 GV60 RWD can deliver 451 kilometres (280 miles) and 400 km (249 miles) on the AWD variant. According to the Korean EV certification system, the Performance Model will cover only 368 km (229 miles) on a single charge.
The GV60 will provide buyers with a choice between 19- and 21-inch wheels, 11 exterior paints, and five different interior finishes.
The pricing and availability information will be released later.
