Ford has introduced the 2022 Expedition with a new off-road-focused Timberline model, Stealth Performance package, and plenty of driver-assist and technology features. All the variants of the full-size SUV include the EcoBoost twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V-6.

In the lower trims – the XL, STX, and XLT- the engine generates 380 horsepower (5 hp more than the 2021 model) and 470 pound-feet of torque. The same engine produces 400 horsepower and an improved torque of 480 pound-feet for the Limited, King Ranch, and Premium models.

The Timberline comes with a raised height of 10.6 inches, enhancing the approach angle to 28.5 degrees and the departure angle to 23.7 degrees. Besides, the automaker added a two-speed transfer case and underbody cladding borrowed from the muscular F-150 Raptor.

The 2022 Expedition Timberline also gets Trail Turn Assist system, available on the Bronco, for tighter turns, 18-inch wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler AT tires. The Timberline delivers the highest power output.

The EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 creates a robust 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The Timberline looks slightly different from other variants due to the distinct black grille and Active Orange accents on the exterior and interior.

Where the 2022 Expedition Timberline is perfect for off-roading, the Stealth Performance package is created to boost the on-road driving pleasure. Ford has installed a retuned suspension and the 440-hp EcoBoost V-6.

You can have this package for the Limited and Limited Max models. Visually, it offers a gloss-black finish on the grille, roof rails, running boards, and headlight housings. Shining behind the 22-inch black aluminium wheels are red brake callipers.

What makes the 2022 Expedition more desirable are probably the technological facilities. The Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving assist allows the vehicle to drive itself in specific conditions. Furthermore, the SUV boasts a range of safety facilities like road edge detection, lane centring, and speed sign recognition.

On the inside, The 2022 Expedition gets SYNC® 4 connectivity with a standard 12-inch display, while the 15.5-inch touchscreen is optional.

The entertainment facilities are enhanced by the optional Bang & Olufsen sound system with 22 speakers. For owners desiring to pull a trailer, the SUV offers Pro Trailer Backup Assist 2.0 and the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package to tow a maximum of 9300 pounds.

Ford plans to develop the 2022 Expedition at its Kentucky Truck facility in Louisville, Ky. The deliveries are planned for the first of quarter 2022.
