A couple of months back, rumours were rife that Genesis would reveal a six-seat model for the GV80 range. Those speculations were true as the luxury automaker has introduced the 2022 GV80 today, offering a new six-seat model.
Regarding this new model, the front seats remain the same as in the other variants; however, at the rear, two newly added seats come with a huge centre console featuring audio controls, cup holders (with heating and cooling systems), and a wireless phone charger. Four-zone climate control is also accessible, allowing second-row occupants to set the AC speed and temperature according to their desire.
New to the AC system is the clean function that keeps the climate system fan working for about half an hour after the driver switches off the ignition and locks the vehicle. This function is available in some new home AC systems as well to stop them from developing unhealthy smells due to moisture.
Moreover, the 2022 GV80 six-seater gets two infotainment displays at the back of the front seats connected to the SUV’s main infotainment system. Other changes Genesis offers encompass over-the-air updates for the infotainment system and changes to the head-up display.
The automaker also said that new colour themes and systems would be accessible after a few months. Customers will also be able to add power-operated side steps and a trailer hitch. Last of all, the four-piston brakes available in the 3.5L V6 variant are now a standard affair for the 2.5L gasoline and 3.0L diesel mills.
Talking about the new powertrains, we believe there isn’t anything new to the range. Customers will be able to choose from three mills in the home market. Also, the 2022 GV80 will be obtainable in two new exterior paints – Mauna Red and Barossa Burgundy – in addition to a new interior urban brown/vanilla beige shade combo.
The specs for the US and UAE- bound GV80 will be revealed later.
