Jeep is intensifying its pace towards electrification and likes to build an all-electric model for each SUV segment in the next four years. To make it a smooth transition from gasoline to electric, the automaker has unveiled the new 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe, which is a plug-in hybrid, featuring two rows of seats and a shorter wheelbase compared to the Cherokee L.
The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe follows the path taken by the 2021 Wrangler 4xe, which comes with the same off-roading abilities the Jeeps are famous for. The electrified Wrangler produces 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque and delivers 22 miles of all-electric range.
Jeep brand CEO Christian Meunier said in a video, that besides introducing more electrified models, they intend to fix solar-powered charging stations to assist off-roaders out on the track. Furthermore, the CEO disclosed their plans to electrify the forthcoming Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.
