Nissan is ready to expand its lineup by introducing an all-new electric vehicle. While we do not know its name, it adopts the electric crossover shape. Nissan is investing big in EV development and the recent £423 million ($584.5 million) financing is a clear indication of company’s intentions.

For now, the company calls it the “Nissan EV36Zero,” and it will be developed in the UK at the Sunderland plant. It will use the CMF-EV platform, available in the Ariya and Renault’s forthcoming Megane crossover. Nissan will improve the facilities at the plant to create 100,000 vehicles every year. The electric crossover will be shipped to the European markets where Nissan sells the other Sunderland-developed vehicles.

Nissan plans to offer this new electric crossover in other markets in the world as well. However, they didn’t mention them yet.

While we do not know if Nissan will bring the new crossover to replace, the Leaf or it will be a standalone model. However, we do know that the new zero-emission vehicle will use next-generation batteries for improved range.

Of note, the image of the new electric crossover hints at its concept nature with no door handles and mirrors. From the solo image, we can’t tell if it is bigger or smaller than the Ariya.
