The Volvo’s sub-brand, Polestar has announced to add another electric model to its lineup and it will be an “aerodynamic performance electric SUV.” Named Polestar 3, it will reportedly boast SUV coupe stylings like the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe and will be built on a new Volvo EV platform. The automaker released a teaser image that shows its silhouette.
Of note, it will be the brand’s first vehicle to be developed in the United States. It will hit the assembly lines anytime next year at Volvo’s new factory in South Carolina. The company already produces the S60 sedan here and will shortly start constructing the next-generation XC90 SUV.
The Polestar 3 is the third vehicle in the automaker’s lineup following the introduction of the Polestar 2 electric hatchback (presently on sale) and the Polestar 1 plug-in-hybrid coupe (production ended). The EV brand also has plans to develop the production model of the Precept concept – a bigger flagship sedan with innovative driver-assistance facilities.
The Polestar 3 might hit the U.S and other countries in late 2022.
