The 2022 Honda Civic officially breaks cover with attention to functionality and ease. The 11th generation Civic sedan comes with a “Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum” design philosophy.
Exterior
The designers have taken into account previous design concepts to create the new Civic. We can see the general design is more angular than the earlier versions. It has a 1.4 inches longer wheelbase with 1.3 inches extra length than before. The windshield pillars pull back to highlight the length at the front. Honda has made the sedan accessible in eight shades, three of which are fresh such as Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl, and Morning Mist Blue Metallic.
Interior
While the exterior looks clean and fresh, the real magic happens inside the 2022 Honda Civic. What attracts us the most is the honeycomb mesh that spans the size of the dashboard. It includes the air vents to give a tidy, fused appearance.
The Civic LX, Sport, and EX trim levels boast a 7.0-inch instrument screen with a digital speedometer and tachometer on the left hand and a distinct physical speedometer on the right hand. A 7.0-inch infotainment display is there to handle different interior functions.
Upgrade to the Touring to enjoy a 10.2-inch all-digital instrument cluster. This range-topping trim also gets the biggest 9.0-inch infotainment screen Honda ever developed for its vehicles. A 12-speaker Bose stereo is also a standard affair.
Engine
There are two engine choices. The LX and Sport models are powered by the old naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder mill yielding 158 horsepower (118 kilowatts) and 138 pound-feet (187 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine sends power to the front wheels through Continuously Variable Transmission.
The EX and Touring would use a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 180 hp (134 kW) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm). It is 6 hp (4.5 kW) and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm) extra than the 10th-gen Civic. Honda has made changes to turbo plumbing and VTEC to improve the power. The turbo, too, mates to CVT.
Fuel Economy
The 2022 Honda Civic comes with improved fuel economy:
Trim | 2022 | 2021 | Change |
LX | 31 / 40 / 35 | 30 / 38 / 33 | +1 / +2 / +2 |
Sport | 30 / 37 / 33 | 29 / 37 / 32 | +1 / — / +1 |
EX | 33 / 42 / 36 | 32 / 42 / 36 | +1 / — / — |
Touring | 31 / 38 / 34 | 30 / 38 / 33 | +1 / — / +1 |
Safety
Talking about the safety of passengers inside the 2022 Honda Civic, the engineers have fitted the updated Honda Sensing safety suite that uses just one camera and eight sonar sensors. The suite now consists of traffic jam assist, low-speed braking control, and front and rear false-start prevention. The amendments incorporate more spontaneous braking through the adaptive cruise control and more linear steering from the lane-keeping assist.
The pricing details aren’t revealed yet, but we expect it to be around $23,000 for the LX trim. It will hit the U.S. roads in the summer. The arrival in the UAE is still not confirmed.
