For a new vehicle brand to set foot in the market and give its customers peace of mind, they ought to provide some assurances. The new electric automaker Rivian is doing just that as its first two models – the R1T pickup truck and the R1S SUV are ready to hit the markets later this year. The company is going to offer one of the longest warranties for its vehicles at eight years or 175,000 miles. The present industry benchmark for battery warranties is eight years or 100,000 miles.

Of note, the 175,000 miles warranty is exclusive to the battery pack and drivetrain parts. While it is an excellent move to attract buyers to the brand, we must remember its main competitor Tesla also provides similar warranty coverage with unlimited mileage.

However, what makes Rivian stand out in this segment is its five years or 60,000 miles bumper-to-bumper protection. Tesla falls behind with four years or 50,000 miles coverage. However, it corresponds to other luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo.

Similar to Tesla, Rivian will also be happy to offer a concierge service for repairs and maintenance. It will encompass mechanics ready to serve in mobile service vans. They will reach the buyer’s home or an office parking lot for repairs.

Another great initiative by the automotive brand is Rivian Remote Care. It will observe vehicle telematics to warn the driver when service or maintenance is mandatory and deliver over-the-air updates for electronics.

Of note, Hyundai and Kia are two brands offering the longest warranty coverage in the market with 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain protection along with five years or 60,000 miles bumper-to-bumper safety.
