After showcasing its first dedicated electric vehicle, the EV6, Kia now has introduced its high-performance version – the Kia EV6 GT. It is the top of the line model with an all-wheel-drive configuration boasting two motors (one in front and the other at the rear axle).

The maximum power with the larger battery pack would be 577 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque. The GT trim will be accessible with the EV6’s two most powerful battery packs featuring some visual changes that make it different from the rest of the lineup.

With this massive power output, the South Korean automaker claims that the 2022 Kia EV6 GT will be able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in only 3.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 128 mph (206 km/h). Furthermore, it will include software that will work to imitate the performance of a limited-slip differential.

2022 Kia EV6 GT-Line

We all know Hyundai recently introduced the Ioniq 5 EV, and because they didn’t hint at any performance variant, we believe this high-powered drivetrain is exclusive to Kia.

Talking about the visuals, the 2022 Kia EV6 GT comes with bigger wheels and tires and more aggressive styling on both the front and back compared to the lesser versions. We can see the yellow brake calipers complementing with yellow accents observed in the interior. The seats appear stylish and assertively reinforced.

Kia will also offer the EV6 GT-Line with the same visual tweaks as the GT but the former will be accessible with a smaller battery, so offering a lower output.

2022 Kia EV6 GT Interior

The different layouts for the regular EV6 and the GT-Line variants encompass a one-motor RWD version generating 168-hp or a two-motor AWD variant creating a 232-hp using the Standard Range battery pack.

Those opting for the Long Range battery pack can have a one-motor RWD model yielding 225-hp and two-motor AWD model producing 321-hp. The automaker says the RWD Long Range arrangement for the EV6 will deliver 316-miles of range on the European WLTP cycle. We do not know the EPA range yet but it will obviously be quite lower than the WLTP.

To get more details on the 2022 Kia EV6, we have to wait for a few more months. The company plans to start deliveries in the second half of 2021. While Kia didn’t reveal the pricing details yet, we believe it will hover around the $45,000 mark for the entry-level model. The high-performance GT would obviously be sporting the highest price tag in the lineup.
